Tibet Wool Rugs
Tibet Rug Company's hand crafted, wool area rug designs are award winners. Master craftsmen weave the history and rich colors of Tibet into each of these hand-knotted rugs ranging from 60 to 100 count per square inch. Each stunning design is an heirloom-quality masterpiece that will last for generations with proper care.
Tibet Rug Company produces some of the most beautiful hand-knotted wool area rugs on the market today. To make these rugs, Tibetan wool is carded, washed and spun by hand, producing very strong yarn. In the ancient art of hand-knotting,yarn is wrapped and then knotted around each warp thread. When the knotting is complete, the rug is hand-clipped and carved, a difficult process of shearing areas of the rug pile to create a three-dimensional look, performed only by highly skilled artisans.
Wool is a luxuriously soft yet immensely durable fiber that resists water and stains and is relatively easy to maintain. It absorbs sound and reduces annoying indoor echo. Unlike synthetics and many other fibers, wool resists bacteria growth and repels dust mites, making it a great choice for people with allergies.
Tibet Rug Company is a joint venture between Jim Webber of Foothill Oriental Rugs in Salt Lake City, Utah and Tibetan refugees involved in carpet manufacturing in Kathmandu, Nepal.
